Grassland Machinery

Single rotor topper

1.2m  |  1.5m  |  1.8m

A small budget priced topper with a single rotary blade for paddocks and orchards. Direct drive through a rotor box means that a high tip speed is maintained whatever the conditions, wet or dry, nettles or thistles, long or short.
This machine is ideal for the smaller paddocks, livestock areas, between trees and in orchards. It has the capability of cutting rough grass and scrub up to 4cms thick, but does not require a lot of horsepower, the 4ft machine can be powered by as little as 10hp.
The replaceable swinging tips produce a quality cut because of the high tip speed and have an increased work rate over a belt driven machine.
Height adjustment is by means of moving the skids on the sides of the machine and has an adjustment of between 25mm and 150mm.

The advantage of skids is that they ride over rough ground easier than wheels, and are not as prone to breakage.
Another disadvantage of wheels is that the front of the machine has to be held on the hydraulics of the tractor, whereas skids ride along the ground, making use of the free floating linkage and therefore riding more easily over undulating ground. The body of the machine is made up of folded panels for greater strength and reinforced panels support the gear box.
Stone guards are standard. Offset headstock is available, also single pivot wheel, HD gearbox and rotor for heavy mulching applications are also available. For such a robust little topper, it is very light and manoeuvrable, which makes it ideal for small and compact tractors.
Available in 3 widths – 4ft (1.2m), 5ft (1.5m) and 6ft (1.8m).

Twin rotor (TR) topper

1.8m  to  2.9m

These twin rotor heavy duty pasture toppers are all shaft drive with an increased work rate and excellent performance. The high tip speed of the blades gives the machine the ability to cut through set-aside or thick vegetation up to one and a half inches (35mm) with ease, but it can also leave an excellent finish in paddocks and open grass areas.
Because of this positive drive, the blades are timed at 90° to each other which means that there is an overlap of 75-100mm to eliminate the central strip of uncut grass that a belt driven machine would leave. They counter rotate and therefore give a natural rear discharge which spreads the vegetation evenly. A floating headstock allows the machine to follow the contours of the ground, the height of cut is easily adjustable by moving the bolts on the side skids and ranges from 25mm-150mm. Stone guards are standard on all the machines.Power required is as little as 30hp for a 7ft machine.

The TR topper is available in 6ft (1.8m) 7ft (2.2m) 8ft (2.4m) and 9ft (2.7m).It can also have hydraulic variable-offset as an option.
This gives the ultimate versatility of being able to keep it in line for gateways or road work, but the advantages of an offset machine to eliminate wheel marks when in work. Another alternative is castor wheels, more manoeuvrable for front mounting, also easier for fine turf work. The Rollamo machine is also a derivative (TR Rollamo) and comes with either a single rear roller or twin rollers front and back for the ultimate in fine finish.Available in 4 widths – 6ft (1.8m) 7ft (2.2m), 8ft (2.4m) and 9ft (2.7m).
